As part of our lessons on ‘Light’, we investigated if the distance of the object from the light source would affect the length of the shadows. We made predictions, ensured fair testing took place and then recorded our results in a table and then a graph. What we were able to establish was that the further the distance, the shorter the length of the shadow.
What an amazing time Years 1-6 had during their sports days this week! We were very lucky with the weather as the rain held off. It was a fantastic morning or afternoon, with the pupils performing brilliantly. They displayed determination, perseverance, team spirit and a great amount of effort. Class teams were awarded points for each activity and then all the activities combined for a total score. The team with the most points in each class were the winners. The children will find out the winning team in each class on Tuesday. We would like to extend a huge thank you to Coach Smokie and Josh for making it such a fun event after a hectic year. This was a very gory but thoroughly enjoyable lesson which helped us learn about the parts of an eye. Dissecting the eye was really tough and it helped us realise how strong this part of the body is. It also helped us identify and know the parts of an eye. Some of us now will consider entering the medical or science profession…it was so fascinating! We absolutely feel ready and confident for our biology lessons in secondary schools.
Learning about the different nets of a cube in Year 6
Year 6 are revising 2D and 3Dshapes. They used polydron to make the different nets of a cube and marked different faces of the cube to solve problems. This practical lesson provided a visually powerful experience and enabled children to come to the correct answers. |
