We gave thanks to God for the food on our plates which we were able to appreciate through our science lesson based on healthy eating. It took our breath away when we saw the colours of the rainbow from the different fruits of the earth. We had a moment to reflect, say thank you to God and write a prayer to recognise how our Lord has thought of our every need. We hope you enjoy of the prayers we wrote:
Dear Lord, Thank you for blessing us with the wonderful and precious, natural foods from your earth. Thank you for the adorable taste and the beautiful experience of life with you. Thank you for this magnificent food and its wonderful flavours. Help us to be grateful and realise not all the people of the world are as fortunate as us. Help us to protect your planet and not to harm it any more. Help us to ensure future generations will have this blessing in their lives too. Amen Year 6 have been busy weighing, mixing, baking, chopping and most importantly enjoying the foods they have prepared in class: Victoria sponge – we baked this classic cake to celebrate the end of our history topic on the Victorians. This cake became popular after it is believed that Queen Victoria desired the plain sponge cake to be served with cream and jam! Healthy eating plate – this was linked to our science topic of Animals including humans. Year 6 recognise the importance of good physical and mental well-being. In order to promote this, eating a balanced diet is key. Year 6 planned and prepared a healthy plate to include half the quantity to consist of fruit and vegetables and the other half to include the other food groups. Their taste buds positively danced and tickled with delight! |
