Year 6 trip was a roaring success culminating in an explosion of technology as they met Queen Victoria herself and enjoyed some games with her in her very own bedroom.
Year 6 made Christmas memory boxes. Using complex nets made up of trapeziums and rectangles, a lot of maths talk was generated.
Victorian toys
Using paper, wood and tape, Year 6 made a traditional toy called cup and ball. They had tremendous fun through making such a simple toy. “This toy made my class very excited and competitive! It certainly cheered up Victorian Day. A Christmas tradition was brought back to life. With cloves, cinnamon and rosemary, our classroom smelt truly of Christmas…Year 6 also achieved an eco-friendly way of decorating the home at Christmas time through using dried fruit.
Making frames
Year 6 used woodwork to make mitre corners and create a frame for their art work. They learned how to place wood into a jig to guide their sawing. “I can’t believe I made this frame with my hands. I learned so many new skills like sawing and I feel very proud of my work. |
