Our progression of skills saw Year 6 combine ingredients by beating and stir-frying to create healthy meals.
They also created and refined recipes using foods from all nutrient food groups to enjoy a balanced diet. “I’ve learnt that mushrooms are an excellent source of Vitamin D and I never realised they were so delicious fried with some garlic”. To make a toast to the Queen, Year 6 celebrated her birthday with a tea party and made her favourite cake – the Victoria sponge. Children worked independently in groups of four in the staff kitchen and left a lovely aroma for the staff, but unfortunately, no cake! One of the children commented “I loved this lesson. I’m going to go home to bake for my mum”. |
