In our Science lesson the children were carrying out various tests in order to find out the properties of a variety of rocks. This test, using a pipette and water, will test whether a rock is permeable (allows water to pass through it) or impermeable (does not allow water to pass through it). Some children used non-fiction books to research the properties of their rocks. This test will let the children know how durable (hard wearing) their rock is as they scratch the surface of the rock with a dull pencil. The children had to immerse their rock slowly in the water to test if their rock is high density (sinks) or low density (floats). As part of our Stones and Bones topic, for homework, the children had to design and make made stone age artefacts using mostly recycled items. They made stone age shelters, stone age tools and stone age jewellery! Well done Year 3, you are talented craftspeople! |
