We really enjoyed our Sports day activities. We were very good at balancing a bean bag on our head and shooting penalties. Look at our great photos. Our interest this week was using stickers. At beginning we just explored the stickers and stuck them using pritt stick. We then learnt how to open them using our fingers and stick them on the paper. After we practiced for a few days we became super skilled in opening them. On Friday we made a sea scenery using stickers, chalks and coloured pencils. Look at our fantastic work and how we had improved by the end of the week. We started a new topic called ‘At the Seaside/Journeys'. We made a mind map using the children’s ideas and then developed our role play area into the ‘French Riviera’. We looked at seaside books, listened to music played on French accordion, learn to count to 5 in French and made some French flags. In Religion we learnt all about ‘Mary our Mother’, we learnt the prayer ‘Hail Mary’ and through role play we crowned Mary. The children dressed up as Mary and presented her with flowers. We really enjoyed the activities. In science we explored the senses of smell and hearing. We made potions, smelling pots, orange scented playdough, telephones, listened to different musical instruments and composed our own music. In Maths we used Numicon and playdough to match numbers to amounts during our carpet sessions and in our continued provision. What a fantastic week we had filled with maths and science learning! We dressed up as dancers and made our own dancing competition, we made a disco ball, bought tickets with money, became judges, danced to different tempos of music and choreographed a brilliant show full of maths learning. This week we also read the 3 Billy Goat Gruff story. We really enjoyed it. We acted out the story and painted the troll, designed, we built bridges indoors and outdoors by working individually and together in groups. We also watched ‘cosmic Kids’ Yoga and tried to copy the movements. This week we have been learning all about our senses. We made marks in the sand, looked at information books about our senses, made sensory bottles, explored natural and man-made materials and played the ‘I Spy’ game in the school grounds.
This week in nursery we used positional language as we continued our hunt for Goldilocks. After our hunt we took Goldilocks to say sorry to the bears. Then together with Goldilocks and the bears we all ate porridge for breakfast. We loved it! |
