What an amazing time Years 1-6 had during their sports days this week! We were very lucky with the weather as the rain held off. It was a fantastic morning or afternoon, with the pupils performing brilliantly. They displayed determination, perseverance, team spirit and a great amount of effort. Class teams were awarded points for each activity and then all the activities combined for a total score. The team with the most points in each class were the winners. The children will find out the winning team in each class on Tuesday. We would like to extend a huge thank you to Coach Smokie and Josh for making it such a fun event after a hectic year. In Year 2 we are learning to tell the time. This week we have used clocks to help us learn o’clock, half past and quarter past. We used our knowledge of fractions to help us. We have also thought about how many hours in a day, how many days in a week, how many minutes in a hour and how many seconds in a minute. We made observational drawings of shells. We looked really closely at the detail on the shell. Using charcoal, we applied pressure to add thick and thin lines for detail. We then smudged the charcoal to show different textures. During religion the children are learning about different faiths. This week we are learning about Judaism. The children were introduced to the religious artefacts for Judaism and we discussed the meaning and significance of each one. We then watched a video about Shabbat and looked at a power point that explained what the Shabbat is and why it is celebrated. The children then sequenced the order of the Shabbat. Our new topic is The Seaside. All the children have been really excited to share their experiences of when they have been to a seaside and where it was in the world. We used a world map to find all the different places we had travelled to. We then looked at the features of a seaside and the features of a city and compared what was different. |
