This term, Year one have learnt how to cut ingredients safely, try new fruits/vegetables and make their very own fruit or vegetable skewer. In today’s lesson the children sat at UK themed table and created their skewers using the plans they made in a previous lesson. They focused on safely cutting each ingredient and constructed them on their own with adult supervision. At the end of the lesson, they enjoyed the fruits of their labor and watched a video about The Queen’s Jubilee featuring Paddington Bear.
Year 1 collected leaves and ordered them from smallest to biggest.
In maths and science week, Year 1 collected different elements of nature from the school playground. In one activity, they had to order the leaves from biggest to smaller and in another activity, the children were given a number and collected a variety of objects. Afterwards, the children looked at their peers’ collection and wrote down the person who had a greater amount than them.
Year 1 collected natural objects in the playground and compared their amount with someone else in their class.
