The children really enjoyed sharing their Advent and Nativity assemblies with the parents. Thank you to the Year 5 and 6 parents who attended the Carol Service in Church on Friday, your presence and your children’s participation really made everyone’s evening. Well done and thank you. 'Feliz Navidad’!!)
“May all your little stars shine bright!” Well done all! Light the advent candle one now the waiting has begun!! At assembly on Friday Miss Nugent discussed the meaning of Advent with the whole school in preparation for the Advent season which starts on Sunday 1st December.
As part of our preparation during Advent some classes are using a Giving Advent Calendar this year. We would be grateful if you could help with a donation of some of the foods and products asked for on the calendar. The products collected will be given to the local foodbank. Year 5 delivered a beautiful Remembrance service in school today. They acted, narrated, read poems, played in the orchestra and sang with great respect and dignity. Mrs Moore was very proud of them and the message of Remembrance (part of their World War 1 topic) was shared in a meaningful way with the rest of the school and parents. Each class had prepared a beautiful poppy wreath which they laid at our Remembrance altar. Here are two of the poems written by Year 5 pupils.
Year 6 proudly and loudly presented a poignant message for Harvest this year. They reflected upon the damage humans are causing to the planet and the constant bad news in the media about the future, if we do not amend our patterns of behaviour and reverse the effects of climate change.
The solution offered to parents and children was found in the Bible: The Word. In the Parable of the Sower, we learn that if we embrace Christian values and beliefs, we can create the Kingdom of God on Earth. “An inspirational assembly, it has inspired me to follow God’s will and look after our planet. “ “The Harvest Assembly was a great lesson for us and our parents, our points about taking care of the planet definitely came through, we were all inspired to be stewards of the Earth.” Spring bursts into the air with meditation, colours and creativity!
Pupils performed their Easter meditation which reminded us of the journey Jesus took through the stations of the cross on Calvary. Pupils designed beautiful artwork depicting Jesus' passion and death. |
