Year 5 and 6 learned about the religious significance of Shrove Tuesday.
They began the season of alms giving by raising funds for Catholic Children's Society and enjoyed their 'final pleasure' by purchasing pancakes before the fast begins.
Year 6 journey the Stations of the Cross
This was recognised as a special from of worship and offered as a deeply spiritual experience. The Stations of the Cross - a Catholic devotion - commemorates Jesus Christ's last day on Earth as a man. The 14 devotions, or stations, focus on specific events of His last day, beginning with His condemnation. We tried to use each station as a mini pilgrimage. At each station, we recalled and meditated on a specific event from Christ's last day.
