Yesterday, pupils from year 5 presented the Easter Meditation. They were supported by the choir and pupils from years 1 - 6. Refreshments for parents followed where a total of £69 was raised which was added to our Catholic Children’s Society Lenten appeal.
Eco Warriors, with the help of a parent, sowed seeds. When sprouting these will be sown into the gardens where children can water and care for them, hopefully growing fruit and veg.
To celebrate World Book Day today, pupils were invited to come to school dressed as their favourite book character. Year 5 children also read stories to pupils in the lower classes and the kitchen prepared a ‘Harry Potter’ themed lunch followed by jelly.
In Year 6, the children celebrated World Book Day by creating dramatic scenes from our class book, Kensuke's Kingdom, in the form of a diorama.
A great number of skills were enhanced - measuring, cutting and using one's imagination to create the 3D scene. Year 5 learnt about columns from Ancient Greece - they were a set a task to make columns from paper!
We then measured how many atlases could be placed on top. The winner held 28! Congratulations to four Year 5 pupils who were awarded third place at a fun and challenging Maths competition hosted by Christ’s Hospital School - competing against sixty other London schools. The event provided an opportunity for the pupils to test their problem-solving skills in an environment that encouraged both individual effort and collaboration.
Our Playground Leaders held their very first fundraisers - a very successful bake sale.
The children worked together to organise bakers, make promotion material and run their very own cake stall at breaktime. All funds raised will go towards a new friendship bench in the KS2 playground. Year 2 pupils had the most amazing learning experience at our local Pizza Express. An entire morning was spent learning about great food, tasting fresh ingredients and of course, making authentic, Italian pizza. They all thoroughly enjoyed being Junior Pizzaiolos for the day.
Year 5 have been studying clay pots in their Ancient Greece topic, they explored how pots were made and decorated. As you can see, they then made some beautiful pots in class.
