Catholic Mission

Our Mission Statement

"Illuminated by Christ, we radiate His love"
What is the meaning of our Mission Statement?

Our mission statement, “Illuminated by Christ, we radiate His love,” expresses our commitment as a Catholic community to let the light of Christ shine through everything we do. Inspired by His example, we encourage every individual - pupils, staff, and families alike - to share His love through their words, actions, and relationships, making our school a place where faith and learning flourish together.
Helping your child understand our Mission Statement:
Illuminated by Christ, we radiate His love

Here are three easier ways to talk with your child about our mission statement:

“Jesus fills our hearts with his light, and we shine with his love in all we do.”

“When we follow Jesus, we show his love by being kind and caring to everyone.”

“Jesus is like a bright light inside us, and he helps us be kind and loving to other people.”
Representing our Mission Statement through imagery
Picture
Understanding the symbols and meaning in our Mission Statement picture: “Illuminated by Christ, we radiate His love”.

This Mission Statement is depicted through a central source of divine light (the cross) and a cascade of symbols that show how that light and love flow outward into the world

🔆 Central Symbol: The Radiant Cross
  • Glowing wooden cross: Represents Christ as the source of divine illumination. Its realistic texture grounds the image in tradition and reverence.
  • Golden rays: Emanate from the cross, symbolizing the light of Christ spreading outward. These rays are the visual metaphor for “illumination.”
  • Heart-shaped flares: Embedded in the rays, they represent love—specifically Christ’s love—radiating from the source to others.

🕊️ Dove with Olive Branch
  • Holy Spirit: The dove is a symbol of the Holy Spirit descending from above.
  • Olive branch: Signifies peace, reconciliation, and divine promise.
  • Position above the cross: Suggests divine oversight and the spiritual origin of the love we are called to radiate.

🌤️ Sky and Sun
  • Sun behind the cross: Reinforces the theme of illumination—Christ is the light that breaks through darkness.
  • Clouds lit by golden light: Symbolize the transformation of the ordinary by divine presence.

📖 Foreground Symbols
These elements show how Christ’s love is received and shared through faith and sacrament.
  • Open Bible: Represents the Word of God, the foundation of Christian understanding and the source of spiritual light.
  • Lit candle: Symbolizes personal faith and the inner light of Christ within each believer.
  • Chalice and bread: Refer to the Eucharist—spiritual nourishment and communion with Christ.
  • Stone surface: Grounds these elements in reality, suggesting that faith is lived and practiced in the real world.
