At English Martyrs we offer wrap-around care including Breakfast Club from 7:15am and After School Care until 6pm. Breakfast costs £5.50 per child per session and Afterschool Care costs £..... per child per session. Both sessions are held in the school hall and playground (weather permitting).
Breakfast consists of cereal, yogurt and toast with milk or water to drink. Pupils may read or play when they finish their meal. From 8:30 until 8:45am pupils go to the playground with staff to run the 'Daily Mile'.
Afterschool Care starts from 3:15 where all children are provided with a snack consisting of cheese and biscuits. Pupils are sectioned into age appropriate groups to allow them to play age suitable games with their friends. Older children have the option of using the school electric devices to complete homework with the help of afterschool staff.

From January 2026, 25% of spaces in Breakfast Club spaces will be offered free of charge to pupils eligible for Free School Meals.
Parents and carers must apply for the FSM Breakfast Clubs spaces via Mrs Boccius at the office. Places will be allocated in order of receipt of applications.
After School Care for children eligible for Free School Meals (Pupil Premium)
From January 2026, 25% of spaces in After School Care spaces will be offered free of charge to pupils eligible for Free School Meals. Parents and carers must apply for the FSM After School Care spaces via Mrs Boccius at the office. Places will be allocated in order of receipt of applications.
What to do if you think your child is eligible for Free School Meals / Pupil Premium but is not recognised as such on our system?
Explain to the office why you believe your child is eligible, and ask for the school to check or update their Free School Meals record on the system. The school can run an eligibility check if you provide details such as name, date of birth and National Insurance number. We may ask you to complete or resubmit a Free School Meals application so that the record is correctly linked for both FSM and Pupil Premium funding.
If there is still a problem after this, parents can contact the council’s Free School Meals team directly to confirm eligibility and resolve any mismatch between benefit records and the school’s management system.
